A thermal problem is one of the annoying problems in a home. We have to pay for a high electricity bill because of the high temperature inside the house. Actually, we can prevent the heat from coming into the house by using insulation materials. Every type of insulation has its pros and cons and will has varying environmental benefits that should be considered.

There are two main types of insulators— sprayed insulation and sheet insulation. Sprayed insulation is sprayed on other materials like a roof, a ceiling or a wall to prevent the heat. The advantage of this type of insulation is its long life but the price is rather high.

There are various types of sheet insulation. They are different in form, price and R-value. Here are common types of insulation materials:

- Fiberglass Insulation. Fiberglass is the most common insulation used in modern times. It is able to minimize heat and sound. The main downside of fiberglass is it doesn’t work when it is wet or exposed to moisture. It will also cause some dangers of handling it for those who have allergies.

- Asbestos fiber. Asbestos fiber is sheet insulation. It can minimize heat, inflammable and sound proof. It is health hazardous, not resistant to moisture and the price is high.

- Aluminum foil. A thin sheet, glossy surface insulation reflects the heat before it is absorbed. If the surface is covered with dust, the insulation cannot work properly.

- Polyurethane Foam. Polyurethane or PU is one of the excellent forms of insulation. There are low density--sprayed foam and high density--sheet foam. The foam is resistant to pressure and can be used with any types of materials. The disadvantage is high price.

- Polyethylene Foam. Polyethylene or PE foam is high density and tough. It is resistant to moisture, chemical and tear strength so it is a widely used insulation.

Insulation material is installed to prevent the heat from outside to come inside the building. Mostly it is installed under the roof or on the wall exposed to the sun so it can efficiently reduce the heat from outside.
